What better way to kick off summer than with a layered fresh strawberry tart, glazed with Food For Thought Organic Strawberry Basil Preserves. This dessert is easy but impressive!
- 1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 10 Tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 - 8 oz blocks cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Juice and zest of 1 lemon
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 lb strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 3 Tbsp Food for Thought Strawberry Basil Preserves
Preheat oven to 350°. Mix flour, sugar and salt, then stir in melted butter to form a dough. Press evenly into a 10" tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork and bake until golden, 25 to 30 minutes. Cool completely.
Beat cream with a mixer until stiff peaks form, about 7 min. In another bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice, zest and vanilla until smooth. Fold in whipped cream, spoon into cooled crust.
Arrange strawberry slices in circles over filling starting at the outside.
Mix Food For Thought Strawberry Basil Preserves with 2 tsp water and microwave for about 30 seconds. Stir, then brush over fresh strawberries. Refrigerate until chilled, about 2 hrs.
